Nordisk ekko was a collaboration project of three Nordic early-music ensembles: Baroque orchestras Ensemble Nylandia (FI) and Camerata Öresund (DK) as well as the chamber choir Cantoque Ensemble (IS). The initiative focused on the connection between Nordic and German eighteenth-century repertoire. Our programme for summer 2021 included pieces from the Icelandic manuscript Hymnodia sacra, pieces from composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel and Johan Helmich Roman, plus a commission from Hugi Gudmundsson for the mixed group. I initiated the project and served as one of its artistic directors.
The project is generously supported by the Nordic Culture Fund, the Nordic Culture Point, Musiikin edistämissäätiö, A. P. Möller Fund, Statens kunstfond, SNYK, Icelandic Government Music Fund, Letterstedt Fund, the Danish Art Council and the Danish composers’ society.
